The trip was long but at least they had jobs to go to and somewhere to live even if it was small. They each had one suitcase half filled with clothes and a life they were leaving behind. Once they were left in the by the side of a dusty road on the outskirts of a small country town Barbara walked with Ian to their new home, unconsciously holding onto his hand as she had done so many times before. Their real estate agent waited at the door of their new home to hand them a set of keys. He wished the newly weds ever lasting happiness then left them to it.

"It seems I've missed my own wedding," Barbara said with a sigh as she put the suitcase down in the middle of the almost empty lounge room and chuckled a little. She was tired and felt dirty from all their traveling.

Ian blushed himself, but didn't let her go. "That's all in the future anyway."

Barbara looked up at Ian. "It is, or at least we hope that it is. In the mean time you can show me what a fantastic husband you can be."

He grinned, though. "Now should I show you what a fantastic husband I can be after we're married or before?"

"If we're attempting to demonstrate that we're married, it might have to be both," she told him.

He pouted. "Maybe I can try. What sort of things do I need to do to be a good husband?"

"I believe that good husbands make their wives comfortable in every possible way, they make tea for their loving wives, fix things that break, mow the lawn on Saturdays, sometimes cook," Barbara grinned at him then added: "oh, and they kiss their wives at every opportunity."

Ian pretended to think about that for a bit. "With all those other things to do I don't think there'll be many opportunities for kissing. You might have to choose which you'd prefer."

"That's too difficult a choice!" Barbara gasped, play acting. "You'll have to choose which is more important; getting the lawn trimmed or kissing me."

"Well, I don't know." He pretended to think about it some more. "Mowing the lawn is more useful, but I like kissing you more."

"Then you should kiss me before you feel the need to go outside and give the grass a haircut," she told him and smiled flirtatiously.

He chuckled "It doesn't need cutting, but I will kiss you," he said, and kissed her.

Barbara was enjoying kissing Ian. He was warm, comfortable and loving. He made her feel safe and he gave wherever they were a sense of home.

Slowly, their kiss broke but Barbara didn't want to move away just yet. She rested her forehead against his and closed her eyes.

"I love you."

"I love you too." He kept his eyes open, looking down at her. But then couldn't stay serious for very long. "Let's get married sometime."

Barbara laughed and stepped back a little. "We should. I think we'd work."

She turned to the sink and started running water to wash up their tea things. She was thankful that they had hot water and didn't have to wait for it to be turned on by the real estate agent.

Ian found himself a tea towel, so he could do the drying up. "It's just as well," he said, more seriously. "There's no one I could explain the past two years to who would believe me."

"I don't think you'd suit the padded cell they'd put you in for talking about spaceships, Daleks, time travel and other planets on a date. And besides, I like you right here with me," she added with a smile.
