The day had been much the same as all the others but still Barbara felt nervous. She met Ian briefly at the end of the day and told him she would be late home but did not reveal what she was doing. Barbara had noticed that she was late (in other, more personal matters), and needed to speak with someone more qualified. She had her suspicions, of course but they were only going to stay suspicions until some sort of result manifested itself.

The result....made her nervous.

She slowly walked home, wondering just how she was going to tell Ian that she was pregnant. At the front door, she paused, hand hovering over door knob. It would be fine. They would be fine. Barbara just had to convince herself of that fact. Quietly she opened the door and stepped into the house. Already she could hear a few of the teenagers relaxing in their lounge eating dinner.

Barbara pulled her foot out of his hold so that she could crawl up the tub and into his arms.

"It seems daunting, and it is, but if we can make one child work, who is to say that we can't make others work? And this could be a fluke. All I'm saying is that we should be prepared."

"It is daunting," he agreed. "But we'll be doing it together." Which made it slightly less so.

"And there's a bright side." He kissed her rather than tell her what that bright side was.

Barbara gladly allowed Ian to kiss her. She cupped a hand against his cheek as she kissed him back, her thumb rubbing against his skin. As nervous as she was previously, Ian had been washing it all away bit by bit. She still didn't feel entirely confident about the future but they would work it out. It would come together.

"You haven't asked me to wash your back yet," she said quietly after she'd pulled back a little ways.

"No, I haven't." He grinned at her. "Have I been nice enough yet?"

"I think so," she said smoothly and sat back. "Turn around. I promise it won't hurt."

He did turn around and settled down with his back to her. "Are you going to ask me what the bright side is?" Assuming she hadn't guessed.

Barbara assumed that she knew but decided to play with the question. "Is it that the child has me for a mother? That I have the joy of carrying your child? That our beautiful child is going to be raised in this wonderful home?"

She used the songe to squeeze warm water over Ian's shoulders and the back of his neck.

"Or has the bright side got something to do with the changes in my body, perhaps? Bigger breasts? A table to carry things on while we walk around the village?"

"They weren't what I was thinking of, but all of those things are bright sides." He looked over his shoulder to grin at her. "I'm especially looking forward to using you as a table."

She pushed the sponge gently against his nose and reached for the soap.

"What were you thinking of, then?"

He smiled. "That we don't have to be careful for a little while."

She chuckled. "I suppose that the worst has already happened."

Barbara leaned in to kiss the side of his neck then started rubbing soap over his shoulders and down his back. She purposefully rubbed as far down as she could get while he was sitting.

"It has been a year. We've got quite a bit of catching up to do."

"Yes, we do." He turned round to catch hold of her and kiss her. "As long as we don't get too used to it."

"We've got about six months and I won't be up to do much more than kissing for a number of weeks after." Barbara kissed Ian again, her hands sliding up his arms. "We can fit in quite a bit in that time...so long as the children let us," like they were in that moment.

"Plenty to keep us going," he agreed, kissing her again. "Now why don't I wash your back?"

"Only if you promise to wash my front after," she said as she handed over the sponge and gently turned to face away from him.

"I have to admit that I am surprised you didn't pick up on my pregnancy earlier," Barbara told him over her shoulder, "I've gone out almost an entire cup size."

"You have?" He rested the sponge against her back while he peered over her other shoulder to see. "I think I just decided I was imagining it."

"You realise that you've got every right to find out for yourself?" she told him and grabbed hold of his sponge free hand to put it on a breast.

"Then I should make a thorough inspection." He put on a serious face while he caressed it. Eventually he declared, "Yes, it is bigger. But I think I should check the other one to be sure." He swapped hands to do the same with the other breast.

Barbara laughed an pd leaned back to kiss Ian's neck while he inspected. It felt good as always; he was exceptional with his hands.

"And what is your conclusion?"

"That one's bigger too." He turned his head to kiss her, then returned his attention to making sure her back was well scrubbed. "I will have to keep checking them regularly to see if they grow any bigger."

"I've no complaints about that at all," Barbara sighed and leaned forward a little. "I've always rather liked your hands when you touch me. They're very gentle but also quite strong." She smiled over her shoulder.

He smiled back. "Then I should use them more." He dropped the sponge and use his hands to wash her back instead, making sure to rub the suds all over, before rinsing his hands in the bath and then rinsing her off.

Barbara sighed happily as he rubbed her back and shoulders. If she wasn't feeling better before she certainly would now. As it were, Barbara felt incredibly relaxed.

She turned to face him, lifting her legs to rest over Ian's and picked up the soap. Without a word, she rubbed over his chest, down his stomach and to as far as she could reach below the water line then came back up. The second time she repeated the process, she grabbed hold of his length and gently massaged it for a moment, then entire back up to his chest again before leaning in for a kiss.

He put a hand to her head, making the kiss a long one, and using the other on her back to pull her closer. "I love you," he said, when they parted, running his fingers through her hair. "Whatever happens in the future that'll never change."

"I love you, too," she said in reply and kissed him again, giving it all her love, her passion and lust. It communicated everything she couldn't about how she felt. Her chest pressed against his asthe kiss carried on and she got as close as she could.

When they parted, Barbara leaned her forehead against Ian's and closed her eyes.
