The taxi pulled up outside a rather tall and grand looking hotel. Barbara stepped out to stare upwards. There were tall buildings in London but there was something about being in a different city which made the buildings unique and fascinating. Despite how tired she felt after such a long flight, she could almost go for a walk to see some more but there would be time for that later.

A finely dressed man dashed toward the from where he had been standing next tot he doors. "Shall I take your luggage?" he asked Ian and Barbara once the cabbie, or taxi driver, had hauled it out of the boot.

"Yes, thank you," Barbara replied. She reached out. For Ian's hand and offered him a smile before they walked into the hotel lobby together.

Once they had signed in at what appeared to be a marble desk, taken the lift up to near the very top, and stepped into their room, Barbara turned to thank the man for bringing their luggage. She gave him a small tip, since she didn't have a lot of money on her, and shut the door behind him.

"Would you look at this!" she said to Ian, gesturing to the entire room. "You must be valuable to have the board so generously pay for you to stay here!"

Barbara trotted over to the window to look out, passing a bottle of champagne and a note which wished them both a happy first anniversary.

"I'd have you to warm me up," she said, panting a little, and rolled to snuggle up to his chest. A few little, light kisses were placed along his neck. "And I'm quite warm now."

He smiled at her. "I'll always warm you up whenever you're cold. And when you're not," he added with a grin. He put an arm round her and traced patterns on her back.

"And for that I'm very glad," she replied, smiling up at him.

While the patterns on her back felt rather wonderful, a small part of Barbara suggested that she return the favour. She asked: "I don't suppose that you're feeling a little chilly?" and played with the collar of his pyjama shirt.

"Well, I am, now that you mention it." He pressed their hips together, so she could feel just how much he needed warming up.

"Ian, you're freezing!" she said, making a big fuss. Barbara pushed Ian onto his back and swung a leg over him so that it was easier to enoucrage him to sit up and let her take his shirt off.

She kissed and gently bit his chest until she made her way down to his trousers, which she removed. Hovering over his pants and the bulge beneath it, which she gently rubbed through the material, she commented: "you should have said you were so cold, we could have warmed up together."

He moaned at her touch and lifted his hips a little, trying to encourage her to rub less gently. "I was distracted kissing you." Since he couldn't reach her now, he settled for tangling his fingers in her hair instead.

"You are my favourite kisser." Barbara stroked him just once at the firmness he wanted, then stopped to remove his pants and fetch a condom from his wallet (since she wasn't certain where he put the box).

Barbara was still excited enough from Ian's previous kisses that she wa able to save her mouth for kissing his lips, leaving other parts of her to warm him up as needed. Once they we both ready, she took up one of his hands in hers and pressed it to her lips, then used her free hand to guide him inside her.

He moaned at the feeling of being inside her. For a little while he was happy just to lie still and run his hands over whatever parts of her skin he could reach. "I never want to kiss anyone else. It wouldn't be as good."

Barbara listened to him as she set a steady rhythm, and giggled at the thought of him kissing other women. It was an absurd idea, particularly at that very moment while they were keeping one another warm.

"You'd miss me too much if you kissed another," she told him and pushed him in a little deeper. "And no one will ever love you like I do."

"Oh, wouldn't they?" He jerked his hips up, disturbing her rhythm. "I think I'm a very lovable person.

"You are," she replied and paused while he thrust at her (as much to hold in a moan of pleasure, as to keep things steady. The end result was always better that way), then she went back to her original rhythm. "But I wasn't talking about your love."

"There isn't anyone quite like you." He took the hint and kept his movements smaller and in time with hers so he just went a little deeper each time. "But I bet I could find someone else to love me." He just got the sentence out before ending it on a moan.

"I've no doubt," Barbara said, slowing down now that he was close, making sure that each thrust was better than the last, "but it wouldn't be the same, would it?"

"No, it wouldn't," he said, a little breathless. He took hold of her hands. "I could never love anyone like I love you."

She linked their fingers together and kept her thoughts internal until Ian finished. Barbara then took a moment to lean forward and kiss him tenderly, slowly, sweetly.

He smiled and kissed her again. "We don't have to get up yet, do we?" She was better placed to see the clock than he was.

"Depends how long you want to spend eating breakfast, and if you want to fit in a shower before you go to the conference." Barbara cleaned him up and then settled down by his side, her arm around his waist. "It's almost 8."

He groaned. "I should shower, really. But I'd rather spend more time here with you than eating breakfast." He put an arm around her.

"You really should shower. No one would want to sit next to you if you smell like you didn't," she replied and kissed him again, "but you could probably take a little breakfast in with you. They might know it's your anniversary today and forgive you."

He chuckled. "It'll only take me five minutes to have a cup of tea and slice of toast." He was automatically assuming he could have those things for breakfast.

"Why do I think you're going to get distracted and run late?" Barbara asked with a lop-sided smile. "Go. Go and have a shower before you're late." With mild reluctance, she started nudging him toward the edge of the bed.

"I won't get distracted," he protested, although he knew he might, so he let her nudge him out of bed.

"I'll shower if you insist," he said, once he was on his feet. "But I'm coming back for a kiss."

"The sooner you go, the sooner you can kiss me," she said and laid back down on the bed, half covered by the blankets.

"I'm going," he said, much as he was tempted to stay. He went to the bathroom and showered - he'd worry about finding some clothes to wear afterwards.

While he was gone, Barbara had gotten out of bed to put her nightie back on and lay out Ian's clothes for the day...once she had found them. She boiled the kettle in their little kitchenette and made Ian a cup of tea. Unfortunately that was all she could do as far as breakfast.

"I've put some clothes out for you," she told him as he stepped out of the bathroom. "They should be fine if you're only in the hotel all day."
