The taxi pulled up outside a rather tall and grand looking hotel. Barbara stepped out to stare upwards. There were tall buildings in London but there was something about being in a different city which made the buildings unique and fascinating. Despite how tired she felt after such a long flight, she could almost go for a walk to see some more but there would be time for that later.

A finely dressed man dashed toward the from where he had been standing next tot he doors. "Shall I take your luggage?" he asked Ian and Barbara once the cabbie, or taxi driver, had hauled it out of the boot.

"Yes, thank you," Barbara replied. She reached out. For Ian's hand and offered him a smile before they walked into the hotel lobby together.

Once they had signed in at what appeared to be a marble desk, taken the lift up to near the very top, and stepped into their room, Barbara turned to thank the man for bringing their luggage. She gave him a small tip, since she didn't have a lot of money on her, and shut the door behind him.

"Would you look at this!" she said to Ian, gesturing to the entire room. "You must be valuable to have the board so generously pay for you to stay here!"

Barbara trotted over to the window to look out, passing a bottle of champagne and a note which wished them both a happy first anniversary.

"Something was bound to after spending all of that time together," she chuckled a little.

After a moment, she fell serious again. "Did you manage to get everyone off the ship? All of the survivors?"

"Yes, I did." He wasn't going to tell her about the dead ones they'd have to leave there - what would be the point? There wasn't anything she could do about it.

Before she might decide he was lying from his expression he quickly added, "And Torchwood have all our belongings, so we don't even have to go back to the hotel."

"And that answers my second question," she smiled gently and used his hand to pull him closer so that she might kiss his cheek. "What did I ever do yo deserve someone a brave and as loyal as you?"

"You were just as brave and loyal." He kissed her cheek, mindful that Jack could walk back in at any moment, but he moved the chair nearer the bed so he could stay close to her.

"I think for our second anniversary we should stay in."

"Ah, but you were telling me how much you wanted to top this year's anniversary. Maybe next year we can find a frozen Dalek at the top of a mountain? Or go on a cruise ship only for it to sink and em find ourselves on a deserted island?"

He chuckled. "We might get some peace and quiet on the deserted island."

"We should have gotten some peace in America, too," she reminded him. "Happy anniversary, my love." Barbara might have leaned in for another kiss but a third voice joined in.

"And our first patient is awake," said the doctor who had been chatting previously with Ian. "How are you feeling? Are you able to sit up on your own?"

Barbara struggled unsuccessfully for a moment. "I feel fine but I can't sit up, no."

"Ah. The adrenalin is running out, then. Are you hungry? I'll let you have a little more so that you can eat but it will be the last until tomorrow. Don't want you developing an addiction."

Ian stepped away from her and tried not to look worried at Barbara's fragility. "Is the food here?" he asked the doctor.

"It just arrived," he replied, looking over at Ian. "I'll tell Jack to bring it in on my way out."

He pushed a button to elevate one end of the bed so that Barbara was sitting up a little and wouldn't spill food, then gave them both a final smile and left.

"Are you going to stay with me or does this place have visiting hours?"

"I'm staying. Jack said something about bringing a bed in. I'm not sure exactly where it's going to be." He supposed they wouldn't want him in this room, in case they needed to get to Barbara to adjust anything.

"Mrs Chesterton." Jack entered the room with a broad grin and a bag in one hand. "It's so lovely to see you awake. I hope you like Chinese." He put it on the table at the other side of the bed, and then pushed it over the bed so Barbara and Ian could both reach it. "Don't worry if you can't use chopsticks, I put some forks in there too. I won't tell," he said in a quieter voice, and winked.

As much as she hated the man, Barbara had to give Jack credit. Became to the rescue and then he and his organisation were taking care of everyone from the ship. She amazed him, really. She had him pinned for a pervert. Although it didn't help that he had broken into their home.

"Chinese will be lovely, thank you."

Jack smiled at Barbara, for once not flirty or in any way perverted. "Enjoy your meal." He left them to it.

Ian was keen to open the bag and see what was inside. Which meant he opened up all the cartons and lay them out on the table. The rice he could identify, but the others were less obvious. It didn't matter, though, given that he'd eat anything.

He passed Barbara a fork, since she probably didn't have the energy to deal with chopsticks, and took the other. Then he dug in. "I haven't eaten for hours," he realised after he took the first bite. "I even missed breakfast."

"And whose fault was that?" she asked jokingly. Chances were that he'd run into Hank, the same man she had, and Ian skipped breakfast because of it.

Barbara was famished herself and went straight for a large bit of chicken. Not that the entire thing could fit in her mouth, but she was content to continually nibble at it until the entire thing was gone.

"Yours." He grinned at her. "Well, your clone's. It was disturbing being served tea by a woman who looked like you, but swore she was called Sue." He twirled some noodles round his fork and then dealt with the dangly ends by turning his face to the ceiling and dropping them in to his mouth.

"You're so eloquent when you eat," she said with a mouth full of chicken. "And I can hardly be in control of my clone. What she does is her own business but you're married to me - I don't want you running off with women you look and sound exactly like me." Barbara held her fork up like a pointed finger, then grinned.

"She looked like you and sounded like you, but she didn't act like you. On the whole I prefer you." He smiled at her, then took a piece of chicken, not wanting to let her have all of it.

"I think I prefer there being only one of me, too. It would be most confusing to have two or three or five of me."

Barbara ate some rice thoughtfully. "I think I could live with lots of Ian Chestertons, though. I could have one fixing the cupboards, one mowing the lawn, one washing the windows and another keeping me company. I could even make you matching uniforms."

"I think I could live with that too," Ian said, after imagining it. "As long as I could be the one keeping you company while my clones did all the work."

"I wouldn't dream of it any other way." Barbara smiled up at Ian. "You can keep me company any time you like."

"I'd keep you company all the time, if I never had to work or mow the lawn or do any of the other hundred jobs you make me do around the house." He paused in his eating, only a small piece of chicken left on his fork now, to lean over and kiss Barbara.

As always, Barbara gladly kissed him back. She loved him too much not to. Her spare hand went to his cheek where her fingers delicately ran over his skin.

"I will always keep you company, too."

He didn't linger over the kiss because she needed to eat before she got too tired. And he needed to eat to. But he kissed the hand that was on his cheek before he sat back down.

"The hotel gave us champagne," he said, not knowing if she'd seen it. "We'll just have to take it home with us and find a special occasion to drink it."

Barbara wanted to keep kissing Ian. It was one of her favourite things to do after all, but her stomach won out and she went back to their dinner.

"I'm sorry that we can't have the champagne now. I'm sure that it will be just as good at home as it would be abroad."

He nodded. "We'll be able to take our time over it. And not fall asleep before we can finish it." He grinned.

"Half the fun is falling asleep before we finish the bottle," she chuckled and ate a little more before feeling incredibly full.

Barbara put the fork down and sighed a little. "You'll have to wait until I've got the energy to keep up with you, however."
